Description
Carpentier was born on January 12 1894 in Lievin, Pas-de-Calais in France and made his pro debut at the age of 14. He fought from 1908 to 1926 winning the French welterweight and heavyweight titles and also the European welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight titles.
Carpentier a World War One hero, served as an aviator and was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Médaille Militaire, two of France’s highest military decorations.
He finished with an outstanding record of 88 wins, 14 losses, 6 draws and 1 no contest.
